Dr. Yeganeh Akbari
Dr. Akbari has been practicing dentistry and servicing the communities in the eastern & north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne since 1994. Following a few years of private practice in in associateship and joint ownership with other dentists, she founded her own practice in 2002 and developed it into a thriving practice renowned and trusted for the quality of service it provided with a personal touch. In 2011 Dr. Akbari sold her practice to follow other personal pursuits and continued her service for a year before she embarked on a period of voluntary service overseas for 2.5 years. She returned to Australia and to dental practice in 2014.
As a teenager, Dr Akbari became interested in dentistry through her positive experience visiting her own dentist. As she grew older and it was time to decide on a career path, dentistry seemed to be the perfect choice for her as it fulfilled her passion for both scientific learning and artistic expression, while serving and educating others to take charge of their dental and oral health, improve their smile and achieve greater confidence in themselves.
Dr. Yeganeh Akbari holds a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Melbourne. She graduated with honours in 1991 and won Melbourne University’s 1991 William Leslie Elvins Prize in Oral Surgery. She completed a year of internship at the St. Vincent Hospital in Melbourne in 1992 following which she carried out further studies in the field of Prosthodontics at the University of Melbourne in 1993. In 1998 she completed atwo-year training in orthodontics from McGann Postgraduate School of Dentistry. She has recently taken a keen interest in implant dentistry and is pursuing further education in this exciting field of dentistry.
In order to give her patients the best care possible at Smile Creation, Dr Akbari regularly participates in continuing professional education courses, such as orthodontics, endodontics, cosmetic dentistry and implantology.
The most fulfilling aspect of being a dentist for Dr Akbari is the ability to not only diagnose oral and dental problems and treat them, but to rejuvenate and recreate more beautiful smiles using proven scientific and artistic principles, while meeting new people on a daily basis who become our patients for life.
Dr Akbari plays the piano in her spare time, loves reading and taking long walks in nature.
